ABOUT LATE SHRI JANAKI BALLABH

Shri Janki Ballabh (1928-2022) was a renowned Sinologist and translator. He moved to China in 1956. He was well known for his works translating Chinese Literature into Hindi. He was recognised with peace and Friendship Award in 1961 by Chinese Premier Zohu Enlai for his contribution to cultural exchange between China and India. He also helped Chinese translators translate Raman and Mahabharat into Mandarin. Even after his retirement he continued his zeal for culture and society and he translated Chinese President Xi Jinping’s book, The Governance of China. Part I and II into Hindi. His life was a perfect example of how exchange of culture and literature can play a pivotal role in establishing better relationship among Nations. He was a true Socialist and Secular who devoted his entire life in establishing a harmonious understanding of the deep cultural and social aspect of China and India.
